A few exciting moments!

Back on the 7th, my 6 1/2 year old finally lost his first tooth!!!  Right at bedtime I gave it a little twist and it came right out!  It surprised both of us!  He was so excited for the Tooth Fairy to bring him a dollar!  The new tooth is already coming through and pushing some of the other teeth loose!  So exciting!

We had a very low key Spring Break this year.  With Daddy working we just stayed local and had a few adventures when the weather cooperated!  One afternoon we went with our friends the McCann's to the Aerospace Museum at Hill Air Force Base.  We always say we should go there when we pass it on the way to Idaho, so when my friend Caroline suggested it we were excited!  (We learned at the end of our visit that the kids really shouldn't have been up on the airplane or even touching it, but it made for a cute picture!)
At the end of our Spring Break we had the pleasure of being with our nephew Cannon for his baptism!  Isn't he a handsome dude?  He really is a cool 8 year old and we love him!  It was fun to visit with Jeff's family over the weekend, and to be with Cannon for this exciting step in his life!
On the 14th I decided it was time to say goodbye to the binkie!  Alison was starting to want it even when she wasn't sleeping, and I knew I was addicted to her having it as well! I cut it up and let her suck on it and told her it was broken!  She didn't like it!  I asked her what we should do with it, and she said "Ith gawbage!" (with her little lisp)  She threw it away herself!  So cute!  That first day she didn't take her nap but slept beautifully that night.  The next day she took a 3 hour nap and again had no problems at night!  She talks about it still, but she really doesn't need it!  "Binkie gone!  Ith broken!!"  I don't know if I'm excited for her to grow up, but it's inevitable! (Her 2nd birthday is tomorrow!!)

Still the SLC Hughes

Looks like we won't be making big changes any time soon!  No P.A. school for us this go around!  I know Jeff is disappointed, BUT we know things will work out how and WHEN they are supposed to!  We'll re-apply with all of the new experience and credits.  He's got a discount on tuition through the U, so he'll probably sign up for a few classes soon on top of the Microbiology class through BYU he's doing already.  He'll keep working as a medical assistant and doing construction and probably add on some volunteering and start shadowing a P.A. again!   He's super busy and completely dedicated to our family!  Our ten year anniversary is next week, and I'm still completely smitten with the incredibly talented man I married!  I look forward to the next 10 and the next 10 and however many 10's we can add on to that no matter where we are or what we are doing!

Get Ready For Your Fill of the Hughesies

I've been feeling a bit like a little girl with a BIG cereal bowl...don't really know how to handle ALL that's coming at me!  So, like this cute little girl, for this post anyway, I'll just dive right in!  The BIG reason I am feeling a bit overwhelmed is not knowing where we will be living in say 3 to 4 months!  Jeff has applied to a few Physician Assistant programs and hasn't been accepted.  We're waiting to hear back from one more in Henderson, NV.  I won't procrastinate that post once we know!  I will be fine if he gets accepted and we have to make a million changes, and I will be fine if he doesn't get in and we get to re-apply (with  current experience and better letters of recommendation) to the University of Utah and stay here!  I've just had a hard time not knowing!!!  It will all work out, I know!  So for now, I'll do yet another catch up post for the month and a half I've been on hiatus!

We LOVED the Olympics!  Loved every minute of them...seriously, I felt like we watched EVERY minute of them!  The TV was on for two solid weeks!  We even held a few Olympic events during preschool!
This collage is so I have proof that I do let my kids get creative every once in a while!  Kyle is constantly asking me for the trash out of our recycle bin.  I don't always take the time to let him be creative because I get hung up on the thought of the mess that will be made!  But here are a few of the "puppets" and a stick house my boys made after reading a homework book about puppets.  (Oh, I should do an entire post about the books my sweet Kindergartner is reading!  AMAZING!)
Speaking of that sweet Kindergartner, Chad got a little beat up by the sidewalk last month while riding on his scooter!  Doesn't he look so sad?  He healed very quickly over the month, and he wears his helmet all of the time...just in case!
These are some of my Blunck cousins!  This is the first time these siblings have all been together for like nine years!  We hosted them and my sister Kristina and her family a couple weeks ago for a pizza party and a meeting with some social service reps. for my cousin Marianne.  She is living with my sister Kristina, but is in need of a lot of help.  Kristina is a SAINT!  It was so good to see all of these guys!

While Kristina was here, we took the kids to the aquarium and had a ton of fun!  Love, love, love playing with cousins!  The kids got in a few HOURS of playing Wii and computer as well!  ;)

We had a nice visit from a little green man on St. Patrick's Day!  Our banana french toast was green, our toilet water was green, and he made a huge mess all around the house! It was worth it, because he left us tons of gold coins!!!
One day Jeff brought home some torn out recipes, and these Boston Cream Cupcakes looked too good not to try!!!  He is a medical assistant with a bunch of ladies, and I think they are rubbing off on him!  Who's husband tears out recipes while at work???  He is still BUSY doing tile jobs, but he's also trying to get some current medical experience for school!  Yeah for busy-ness!  Oh, and the cupcakes were not as good as I was hoping they would be, but there are more torn out recipes to try!
My Chaddy is in the back corner...NOT the one pretending to pick his nose in the front!  But that kid is cool, too!  Chad's Kindergarten put on an "informance" last month in which they informed us of things they were learning through song and dance.  It was awesome!!!  I am so impressed with his school and his teacher!  It's been a great year!

I can't believe I'm almost caught up...if you're reading this, thanks for caring so much about our lives!  Hooray for EASTER!!!  We held our Neighbor Easter Egg Hunt even though there was snow on the ground and it was super cold and windy!  The kids didn't seem to mind one bit!  Cute kids!  We rewarded them with hot chocolate afterwards!

We dyed the eggs using lemon juice this year...not the same as using vinegar, but we still had a great time as you can see on these faces!  Afterward, Jeff went to the Priesthood session of General Conference for our church and I attempted to do Easter Puffs with the kids on my own.  They turned out, but boy is it easier to read scriptures and add ingredients when their Dad is around!  :)  I just got back from a Relief Society Meeting tonight where I shared ideas on how to celebrate Easter in a more meaningful way and I walked them through how to make Easter Puffs.  I didn't take a single picture of our Easter dinner or from the Relief Society Activity, but we do it every year and I don't know how to link to former posts!  (Someone want to teach me how to do that?)  I did take these pictures from Easter morning:

The beautiful "Spring" weather continued and we had a lovely Easter Sunday watching General Conference.  The boys made a tent to watch from, but they ended up being a bit too noisy!  Our niece Krystle came and watched the afternoon session and had Easter dinner with us!  We had so much fun that I forgot to even get out my camera!  We loved having our little BYU niece hang with us!  Conference was amazing!  I was reminded of so many things that I need to do and change in my life!  I am so thankful for the gospel!  Thankful to know that our Savior atoned for my sins.  Thankful to know that I can repent, try harder, and live eternally because of Jesus Christ!
Well, I've learned that I can run, but I can't hide (for too long) from this blogging world!  Sometimes I just have to put on my boots and get-er-done!  So, there you have it...these are the happenings of the SLC Hughes'...for now!
